For many people yoga is a form of exercise or a part of a routine that encourages mindfulness.
But in truth, it can be and for me it is so much more.
Yoga is way of life that has been practiced since the 8th century.
I feel very fortunate that my teachers have emphasised the linage of the types of practice that are available to us today. Those practitioners who left India in the late 19th century to intentionally share their traditions and practice, who demonstrated ways of living with balance and an awareness of ourselves and how we effect and affect the world around us, have given us a great gift.
The yoga I have been taught and the practice I cultivate, are drawn from a long line of traditions and interpretation in application by many practitioners. I am grateful to have had wonderful teachers and to have spent time with other practitioners. I acknowledge all of them, and I celebrate those who will come after me and who will carry the wisdoms within the practice of yoga into the future.
Yoga has offered me the opportunity to better understand myself mentally and physically. I am developing a teaching practice that celebrates yoga for all that it is now, and all that it has been for thousands of years.
A yogic approach to life is rooted in an awareness of the world and how we can serve and ensure its welfare – starting with our own actions but always, always acting with the welfare of others foremost in our minds. It is my intention to share a practice that is without artifice or judgement, is accessible and that welcomes anyone and everyone. My teaching style seeks to be trauma aware and informed.
Please contact me if you are looking for a yoga teacher.
