So, its done.
16 months of writing, along a mostly lonely long road and I am done. I have finished the first draft of my first full manuscript.
It hasn't been about of love. Far from it.
Its been a 'hanging over my head bogging me down, lifting me up and settling me, niggling activity that has driven me, stopped me at times, chased me and floored me at others and doggedly pursued me for the 16 months I have been writing it.
I have written close to 90,000 words. Thats a lot of words right?
Its more than 220 pages in print according to Scrivener. More than 400 A4 pages that I'll have to take to office works to get printed.
I feel euphoric.
I feel petrified.
I feel tired.
I feel little bit freakin chuffed and a lot of proud.
And now I can finally listen to the persistent character voices that have popped into my head on and off for the last several months. "Hey - how about this - or in the next book you should soooo have a guy that has a has chicken as a pet and who walks his cat on the beach" (copyright!!). It might be Rob and Bette's - or Mick and Katey's story. Which ever it ends up being...it'll be a bloody good one if the little hints the character voices have been dropping are anything to go by.
I'm starting today!
